Dr. Mrittunjoy Guha Majumdar was invited to deliver a talk in the 40th National Annual IAPT Convention organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).

Dr. Guha Majumdar spoke on ‘The Physics of Learning’ touching upon aspects of statistical mechanics, stochastic dynamics, representation theory, neural networks, Hopfield networks, Boltzmann machines and artificial intelligence,

What made it more special was the presence of Padma Shri Prof. H. C. Verma (Emeritus Professor, IIT Kanpur), Prof. Ajoy Ghatak (President, National Academy of Sciences, India, 2021-2022), Prof. Vijay A. Singh (Visiting Professor, UM-DAE CBS and National Coordinator, NIUS, 2004-2012) and Prof. P. K. Ahluwalia (President, IAPT). Many of us have grown up studying Prof. Verma’s books, and as per Dr. Guha Majumdar,

“It was special to receive his appreciation and interest in my work.”
