Dr. Mrittunjoy Guha Majumdar was invited to deliver a scientific talk at the IUCAA HiSTAR, held in Dehradun. He spoke on how the integration of quantum computing with machine learning is being harnessed for a range of astrophysical applications, including galaxy classification, exoplanet candidate detection, and gravitational-wave signal analysis, particularly in high-dimensional and noisy data regimes. Further research explores quantum machine learning methods for astronomical image classification and telescope observation scheduling optimization, with the aim of improving the efficiency of large-scale survey data processing and resource allocation. IUCAA is one of India’s premier institutions for research in general relativity, cosmology, and theoretical astrophysics, with Padma Vibhushan Dr. Jayant Narlikar having been its first director.
